These were the words in the announcement of the jury decision for the Gabarron International Award of Economics 2011. The jury recognized the ERIC S. MASKIN relevance under the presidency of Mr. Joan Castells Trius and with Acting Secretary Mr. Víctor Moneo Ocaña. The jury of The Gabarron International Award of Economics 2011 met in Valladolid, Spain, on June 28, 2011. ERIC S. MASKIN
(1950, New York. USA)

Eric Maskin is probably best known for his work on the theory of mechanism design, for which he shared the 2007 Nobel Memorial Prize in Economics. He has made contributions to many other areas of economics as well, including the theory of income inequality, the study of intellectual property rights, and political economy.
