ERNESTO ZEDILLO, new Lifetime Achievement Award recipient

For driving decisive modernizing reforms in his country’s political and economic fields. Being a fundamental figure in relations with Spain and strengthening the Hispanic community, Zedillo’s intellectual prestige makes him worthy of this award for his career, without which it would be impossible to understand modern-day Mexico. The jury values his particular attention to education, be it in the responsibilities of the government or in his collaboration with important international bodies.

 


 

 

These were the words in the announcement of the jury decision for the Gabarron International Award of Lifetime Achievement 2011. The jury recognized ERNESTO ZEDILLO contribution and relevance under the presidency of Mr. Miguel Angel Cortes Martin. The jury of The Gabarron International Award of Lifetime Achievement 2011 met in Valladolid, Spain, on July 11, 2011. Members of the jury include: Mr. Miguel Angel Cortes Martin, Valladolid Deputy, Former State Secretary of Culture (1996-2000) and Former State Secretary of International Cooperation and Hispanic-America; Mr. Ignacio Fernandez Sobrino, Regional Director of Onda Cero and Antena 3 Television; Mr. Jose Manuel Herrero Mendoza, General Secretary of the Castilla y Leon Presidency Department; Mrs. Sonia Segura, International Diplomatic President; Mr. Enrique Ybarra e Ybarra, President of the Vocento Foundation.
