Casa Pintada Foundation - Cristóbal Gabarrón Museum in Mula presents next Thursday June 20 at 20:00 hours the exhibition of collages Cut and Paste Characters by Antonio García López at Galleries 1 and 2 of the FCP.

ʺCut and Paste Characters is the new project presented to us by Antonio García López, a collection of thirty collages, fresh from his studio. The artist shares with the spectator his particular imaginary of portraits and memories, a series inspired by the nicknames and nicknames muleños. In Mula, as in other localities, there are nicknames that identify with the inhabitants of the village, that describe them, criticize them or simply recall an anecdote [...] He transforms the argument (nicknames), with images and recycled objects, which come to acquire meaning. In the work of our creator, there is a uniqueness in the conception of the object, when conceptualizing the work, he is interested in the fraction of a photograph, which later manipulates and changes situation, and the diversity of materials, all forms an assembly, with neutral or painted backgrounds, compositions that are not the result of chance, manipulates the various graphic languages and recontextualizes them. Antonio García López (1970, Valencia, Spain)
Graduate and Doctor in Fine Arts by the UPV, 2nd National Prize of completion of studies promotion 1988-1993. Scholarship in 1993 by the Rodriguez Acosta Foundation. Research Fellow by the Generalitat Valenciana 1994-1997. In addition to Researcher and Professor of the UMU he has been Vice-Dean of the Faculty of BBAA.
As an artist, he has carried out around twenty individual exhibitions and a hundred collective national and international exhibitions, being awarded and selected in numerous artistic contests. In his work there is a clear line of art and social commitment linked to the technique of cut-out and collage, both in its modality of painted collage and in its expressive possibilities brought to the field of assembly. Examples of this are: Alcunha (2011), Violencias de Géneros (2008), Personajes de la Crisis (2013-14), Collage Collection (2015) or the present exhibition at the Fundación Casa Pintada- Museo Cristóbal Gabarrón.
He has also curated several artistic projects, including Dinero-Dinheiro. Itinerant artistic research project shown in several museums and institutions in Lisbon and Murcia.
The Casa Pintada Foundation - Cristóbal Gabarrón Museum, inaugurated on June 8, 2005 by SS.AA.RR. The Prince and Princess of Asturias, now the King and Queen of Spain, is a space for knowledge and dissemination of the work of Cristóbal Gabarrón (Mula, 25 April 1945), as well as current contemporary creation.
